‘Leasungspell – A Fools Tale’ Literary Performance with Bob Beagrie and fellow artists-Online booking closed – tickets available on the door.

About the event

As Part of Wintertide Festival this will be the penultimate showing of ‘Leasungspell: A Fool’s Tale’ – an epic poem brought to life with spoken word, drama and live music.

Join Brother Oswin in the year 657AD as he sets out from Heretea (Hartlepool) to Steoneshalh (Whitby) carrying letters from Abbess Hild. He must cross the wilderon of the Tees estuary with all of its natural and supernatural inhabitants, struggling as he trods the trail with his own memories and longings.

“A wonderful experience. I have never seen anything quite so original and thought provoking. Has made me want to learn more about Northern history. The performance itself could not be faulted, it held the audience spellbound.”

Cath Maddison

“A wonderfully alive and evocative performance that really brings out the quality of this unique writing. Great to have this mix of Old and dialect language and the performance brings the story to life.”

Excellent quality, absolutely unique in my experience, brilliantly original and absolutely relevant to the history and ethos of the Kingdom of Northumbria. Absolutely stunning!” Dereck Sims
